Upcoming Technology Trainings and Sessions
by Kate Sonka
Just as there is more than one way to teach a student, there is more than one type of training on all things technological. That being said, CET would like to share three types of training and informational sessions that are available to you in the coming weeks. Of course there are many more, but for the sake of space we would like to talk about D2L training offered by FITS, e-Portfolio merit review sessions, and the Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning.
FITS D2L Training
FITS offers several types of workshops covering everything from D2L basics to how to simplify your life with D2L tools to working with quizzes, surveys, and self assessments. Not to mention the numerous open labs they offer, where FITS staff are present to help you with whatever specific questions you may have.
For a list of workshop times and locations (and to register) please visit their website.
Click here for a PDF description of what is covered in each of those workshops.
Sloan-C Streamed Sessions
The 17th annual Sloan Consortium’s International Conference on Online Learning is offering a robust number of streamed sessions. CET has reserved SAC 359 on November 9th and 10th, and SAC 471 on November 11th to offer a space to participate in these sessions. We will send out more information on which topics will be streaming on those days, but in the meantime we encourage you to take a look at the list and join a session (or two) that interests you.
e-Portfolio Merit Review
CET is offering support in the e-Portfolio Merit Review process. There is still time to register for the training session on October 28th from 3:00-4:30 in SAC 240. Click here to register.
There are also open lab sessions on October 13th and October 27th. Both will take place in SAC 232 from 5:30-8:30pm.
As always, if you have any questions you can stop by and visit us in SAC 304 or email us at CET@depaul.edu.
